~Shinichi~

Time: 1st April 2011
Location: Yul Ein High School (Human World)

In the hallways of the high school, a seventeen year-old named Shinichi Nisai sits alone reading a manga. After a while his friend, an upbeat girl, Keiko Kawashima, attends to him.

Keiko: Shini! What are you doing?

Shinichi: Eh, I'm bored. I have a break.

Keiko: The results of our yearly exams are up on the noticeboard! Come, let's go check it out.

Shinichi: *sighs* Fine, alright.

*The two walk through the hallway*

Keiko: Shini, you always seem tired or something. This might be a strange question to ask but, do you enjoy life?

Shinichi: Occasionally nice things pop up, but many times I've wondered what's the point of life? I once believed my purpose was to find a partner that I could protect and love. Not anymore.

Keiko: I'm sure you'll find that someone someday.

Shinichi: I ain't betting on it. I don't like this world. It isn't my world.

Keiko: Hmm?

Shinichi: Did I ever tell you that I really wish I were a character in a manga? Have my own ability. Protect my partner. Go on a real adventure. You know?

Keiko: Haha, I'm sure a lot of people would like that.

Shinichi: What about you?

Keiko: I guess I'm happy with my life at the moment. I have good friends, like you!

*Keiko gives Shinichi a hug, which Shinichi reluctantly receives*

Shinichi: You've accepted reality. I haven't.

*The two arrive at the noticeboard, crowded by over thirty people*

Student 1: Nooooooooo. I failed again!

Student 2: Did you hear? Miyahara-san got straight As again!

Student 3: Miyahara-san is so smart! Why can't I be like him?

Keiko (reading to herself): Takabe 78, Ryusaki 83, Sawamura 66, Kusuhara 95...

Keiko: yay, I got 91! Shinichi, what did you get?

Shinichi: ...

Keiko(searching for Shinichi's name): ... Nisai 46.

*Keiko hits Shinichi on his head*

Keiko: Shini! You failed! You need to try harder next time!

Shinichi: Studying is boring... manga is more interesting.

Keiko: I don't want you to be poor in the future. I want you to be happy! Imma make you study next time!

Shinichi: Eh, you can try.

*Later that day, 10:30pm, Shinichi is lying on his bed facing the ceiling thinking to himself*

Shinichi (in his head): Life is pretty boring. I don't have any special talents. I'm not smart, i'm not good at sports, i'm not good-looking and i'm really lazy... Keiko is kind but she's not the one i'm looking for. Eh, this really isn't my world...

*At that instant a dark black void rips the space in Shinichi's room and a force pulls him through the portal*

Shinichi: What the fuck?! What is this shit? What's happening?
